Help us celebrate our 71st birthday

1 July 2019

Local GPs and nurses are encouraging patients in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley to help the NHS celebrate its birthday this year.

The NHS turns 71 on 5 July 2019 and supporters are urged once again to show their appreciation by joining the NHS Big Tea as they did for the 70th birthday last year.

This is as simple as holding your own tea party in your GP practice, care home, club, school or workplace, or anywhere else, and raising money for an NHS affiliated charity at the same time.

Local GP and Chair of NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley CCG, Dr Sarah MacDermott said: “We are very proud to be part of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, and so once again we will be holding our own tea party, as staff told us they enjoyed last year’s and appreciated the opportunity to officially mark the occasion.

“But the NHS is for all of us, so we’d love you, our patients, to join in the birthday celebrations on or around the 5th of July.  It doesn’t need to be anything spectacular, just a cuppa with friends and a collection box is all you need!”

The NHS will help you get into the tea party spirit by providing party resources such as bunting that are available online for free that you can download and print. There is also a long list of affiliated charities so you can choose one to support that’s close to your heart.

Further information, resources and a Plan a Party guide are available at

If you are planning a tea party, please let the CCG know and we can help publicise it. Contact
