Public consultation events to be held on the future location of an Urgent Treatment Centre
27 September 2019
NHS Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Clinical Commissioning Group is inviting local residents to come forward with their views on the future site of a new Urgent Treatment Centre.
A series of three public consultation events are being held across the CCG area to give local people the chance to discuss and give their feedback on the proposed two options, which are to locate the Urgent Treatment Centre at either Darent Valley Hospital or Gravesham Community Hospital.
Public events: dates and times
These events will be held on Wednesday 16 October at Clocktower Pavilion, St Mary’s Road, Swanley BR8 7BU; Monday 28 October at Princes Suite, Princes Park Stadium, Darenth Road, Dartford DA1 1RT;and Wednesday 30 October at Kent Room, Gravesham Civic Centre, Windmill Street, Gravesend DA12 1AU. The meetings will take place between 6-8pm and refreshments will be provided.
Giving an opportunity for greater discussion and feedback
Dr Nigel Sewell, local GP and Urgent Care Clinical Lead for the CCG said: “We’ve had a great response to our public consultation so far and thank you to everyone who has contributed already. But we want to encourage more local people to come forward and have their say about where we should put the new Urgent Treatment Centre. These public meetings offer a great opportunity for the public to hear more about our plans to improve urgent care services and give us more detailed feedback about the proposals.”
More than 1,600 survey responses so far
Since the urgent care public consultation was launched in August, more than 1,600 people have completed the survey. The CCG has talked to over 900 local people at 25 community roadshows, which have been held in supermarkets, hospitals, clinics and community venues in the Dartford, Gravesend and Swanley areas. Staff at the CCG have also given talks to various groups including Gravesham 50+, Sangam Rethink Group and the Dartford Elders Forum and held briefing sessions with local councillors and MPs.
The options we are consulting on
The CCG is formally consulting on two proposed options which are:
- creating an Urgent Treatment Centre by relocating services from the White Horse Walk-in Centre to join the Minor Injuries Unit at Gravesham Community Hospital (option one)
- or locating the Urgent Treatment Centre alongside the A&E department at Darent Valley Hospital by moving the existing urgent care services from Gravesham Community Hospital and the White Horse Walk-in Centre (option two).
Both proposed options bring together under one roof the existing urgent care services currently provided by the Minor Injuries Unit at Gravesham Community Hospital and the White Horse Walk-in Centre at Fleet Health Campus.
